Research area: Thermodynamics, statistical physics and complex systems
Research direction: Transformation thermotics and its extended theories, thermal metamaterials and their engineering applications, diffusionics and diffusion metamaterials, and diffusion control
Representative academic achievements: He developed the transformation theory of steady-state heat diffusion and introduced the concept of thermal cloak, which has pioneered the research direction of thermal metamaterials and led to the emergence of a new major branch in the field of metamaterials - diffusion metamaterials. His contributions have been acknowledged and recognized by his peers. For example, he has been invited to contribute review articles in two journals: Nature Reviews Physics [5, 218-235 (2023)] and Reviews of Modern Physics [96, 015002 (2024)]. The titles of these articles are "Diffusion metamaterials" and "Controlling mass and energy diffusion with metamaterials", respectively.

学习和工作简历：2003年获得香港中文大学物理系博士学位，其后在德国马普学会高分子研究所做博士后、洪堡学者，各一年。2005年9月-2007年2月，复旦大学物理系研究员；2007年3月起，复旦大学物理系教授；2012年12月起，复旦大学物理系“谢希德青年特聘教授”；2018年1月起，复旦大学特聘教授。2006年2月起，复旦大学物理系博士生导师。2007年1月-2009年3月、2020年7月起，复旦大学物理系副主任。2009年6月-12月，美国哈佛大学物理系访问学者。2012年获得国家基金委优秀青年基金、入选教育部“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”；2017年获得国家杰出青年科学基金。
研究领域：热力学、统计物理与复杂系统
研究方向：变换热学及其扩展理论、热超构材料及其工程应用、扩散学与扩散超构材料、扩散调控
主要学术贡献 ：发展稳态热扩散变换理论，提出了热隐身(thermal cloak)这个概念，推动了热超构材料(thermal metamaterial)热点研究方向的形成，促成了超构材料(metamaterial)热门领域的一个新的主要分支——扩散超构材料(diffusion metamaterial)。开创性贡献已经获得同行的肯定与认可，例如，应邀在Nature Reviews Physics [5, 218-235 (2023)]和Reviews of Modern Physics [96, 015002 (2024)]发表综述论文，标题分别为“Diffusion metamaterials”、“Controlling mass and energy diffusion with metamaterials”。
指导学生：至2023年8月，已经指导27名博士生和15名硕士生毕业。
